During the analysis, design, and development activities some research needs to be performed. The results are evaluated and used to guide the activity toward a conclusion. The sub-pages to this one contain the results of the research.
A major area of research is the vision processing. Most of this will be done using RoboRealm. At first photos will be taken using a digital camera. This digital photos will be used to see what can be done to obtain the position of samples, the location of the robot, etc. Later a web camera will be used in the field to validate the preliminary results.

Sensors provide information to the rover about the external environment or its own operational capability. Fortunately a lot of internal information is reported by the controllers used for the motors and servos.
One sensor that has been problematic is the gyroscope.
